AS A PARTICIPANT IN THE PAY EVERY DAY DERBY, YOU AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING RULES AND REGULATIONS:
#1. Minimum age for entry into The Pay Everyday Derby (PEDD) is 8. Youths under the age of 8 can be in the boat with parents but may not register to win a prize.
#2.Each participant must officially register by 7:00 A.M. on the day you wish to fish and prior to fishing be in possession of his/her registration coupon at all times and present the card to any official Derby personnel upon request.
#3. Only fish caught in the U.S. and Canadian waters of Lake Ontario by hook and line and retrieved and brought to net by rod and reel in a legal manner as designated by New York State DEC or Province of Ontario MNR may be entered.Tributary and special regulation waters are excluded. Derby waters are limited to those where lake regulations are in effect as per NY DEC and Ontario MNR.All registrants must possess a valid New York State or Canadian fishing license unless exempted by law.
#4. All persons aboard the same boat (private or charter) must be registered in the Derby, except the LICENSED captain and first mate. If a captain and mate wish to fish themselves and compete for the daily prize, they too must be registered. FOR A CAPTAIN TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DAILY up to $1000 a day PRIZE, they must be registered in the derby. We would encourage the captain and mate to be registered, but it is not absolutely necessary for them to be registered for his clients to participate. In the event that there are any other persons on board the boat who are not registered (whether they are fishing or not), all fish caught during that particular outing may not be offered or considered for any prizes. A supporting affidavit may be required by all registered contestants aboard the same boat, affirming the integrity of the catch and also that no unregistered person was aboard the boat. EXCEPTION: Youths under the age of 8 are free and are allowed on the boat or charter as observers only!
#5. All participants agree that failure to comply with any of the PEDD rules will result in automatic disqualification, forfeiture of all prizes, recognition as a prize winner and the right to enter any future Pay Every Day Derby. Pay Every Day Derby reserves the right to deny participation in the Pay Every Day Derby to anyone. Any person disqualified in any Derby or Tournament by an overt act to deceive or defraud, may be barred from entry to any Pay Every Day Derby.
EACH PARTICIPANT:
#6. Agrees that the minimum weight of a salmon, brown trout, lake trout or rainbow(steelhead) trout for entry in the derby must be a minimum twenty (20) pounds from 5/1 until 6/1, must be a minimum of twenty three(23) pounds from 6/1 until 7/15, must be a minimum(26) twenty six pounds from 7/15 until 8/15 and (28) twenty eight pounds from 8/16 until 9/6. The prize will be paid out each day for the single largest fish. In the event an eligible fish is not weighed in on a given day, the prize money will be carried forward until a qualifying fish is caught and weighed in. The fish MUST be weighed in by the person who caught the fish and all persons from the boat must be present.
#7. Must present the official registration coupon at time of weigh in; A witness may be any registered participant of age 8 or older present at the time of catch.
#8. Who offers a prize winning fish and the affirming witness agree to be subject to a polygraph (lie detector) or voice stress test if so specified by the Derby Advisory Committee. They also agree that failure to pass the test will result in disqualification. Disqualification will result if an entrant refuses a polygraph or is determined to be unfit for a polygraph due to drug or alcohol consumption. The official PEDD polygraphist shall make this determination. Polygraph tests will be administered at the discretion of the derby officials.
#9. Agrees that the Weigh Master must weigh in all fish entered in the Pay Every Day Derby at an official PEDD Weigh Station on the day caught. Agrees to these weigh station hours for the derby will vary from weigh station to weigh station. May 1st – September 6th, 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. is standard.However, some stations may be open earlier than 7 a.m. and may stay open until 9 p.m. Hours are at the discretion of the proprietor. All fish caught must be weighed on the day they are caught to be considered in the competition for that weigh in day.
#10. Must enter the fish whole, not gaffed, gutted or snagged and winners will be determined by the weight of the fish only. Any fish containing any foreign materials (including but not limited to water, ice, and weights) will disqualify that fish from consideration for any prize. Fish will be examined for gill net marks, bleached or slimy gills, hook and/or gaff marks, fin rot or fungus, freezer burn, clouded eyes, unresponsive flesh – any of which can disqualify the fish. Stream run, i.e.Black salmon will not be eligible for entry.
#11. Agrees that the designated weigh in official (Weigh Master) prior to weighing will remove all bait fish or ice visible in the mouth of any fish.
#12. Agrees that fish weight is determined by full ounce only. No fractions of an ounce will be recorded. Partial ounce weights will be rounded down in all instances.
#13. Agrees to submit, if required by a Derby official, their fish for microscopic tissue examination, internal examination, entering the cavity through an incision or through the use of a probe. (Pay Every Day Derby reserves the right to gut all fish to insure that no foreign weight has been added.)
#14. Agrees that PEDD entrant who enters the prize winning fish will be the sole recipient of merchandise awards. Dividing of merchandise prizes will be handled by entrant, NOT the PEDD Derby. As it pertains to daily cash winners in the event there are fishing partners PEDD will cut no more than 2 checks.
#15. Must be fishing with at least (1) other Pay Every Day Derby registered participant (minimum of two (2) persons per boat). (Remember, the witness must also be a registered participant.) In the case of pier, shore, or stream fishing, the witness must be in the immediate company of the person who caught the fish. When entering their fish, the entrant must be accompanied by their witness who signs an affidavit which corroborates the method, time and location of the catch. The designated official weighing the fish (the Weigh Master) must sign the affidavit paper. The minimum age of a witness is 8 years old.
#16. Agrees that all fish in contention, as determined by the sole discretion of Derby officials, are property of the Derby until released by a Derby official. All weighed fish must be gill punched or fin clipped by the Weigh master. It is the sole responsibility of the entrant to retain any fish submitted for prize consideration until the Derby results are declared official.
#17. Agrees to submit all disputes to a designated Derby official within 12 hours after the fish is entered, and agrees that all disputes will be submitted to the Derby Advisory Committee, whose decision will be final and not reviewable.
#18. Agrees that In the event of a tie (two or more fish of identical weight) the prize money will be split equally.
#19. Agrees that award recipients are responsible for payment of all taxes on prizes $600 and more. Refusal to submit proper Social Security information will result in disqualification. All daily winner checks will be issued on Friday of the following week. A week is defined as Monday to Sunday.
#19a. Social Security information will be required on all roll over prizes prior to checks being cut.
#20. Agrees that the Pay Every Day Derby Employees and their families may enter and fish in the Derby. They are subject to all the same rules and may also compete for all prizes.
#21. Agrees to use good judgment in regard to existing and projected weather conditions. Listen to and heed the warnings of the U.S. Coast Guard and local weather reports, before and during each day’s fishing and, not to place in jeopardy themselves or others on the boat during the Derby. To have personal floatation devices aboard their vessel and to operate under Coast Guard regulations each day they fish.
#22. Agrees to hold the Derby officials, sponsors, their agents, servants and/or employees, harmless from any liability of any nature and kind for injuries and/or damages suffered by the entrant during the period that the Derby is held.
#23. We are planning on a sportsman banquet and awards ceremony to be held on Saturday September 19th, 2010 at Location TBD. Note there will be a nominal charge for the dinner. Derby results will be certified as official by the Pay Every Day Derby Officials immediately prior to the Awards Ceremony. Winners must be there at 5:30 p.m. for verification and the ceremony will commence at 6 pm. There will be a lottery drawing for all participants and also a special drawing for each of the daily winners who are in attendance.
#24. There will be a $10 replacement fee for any lost or stolen registration coupons. The $10 will cover cost of handling fees, coupon reproduction and postage if applicable.

The derby will pay out 70% of all proceeds from registrations up to $1000 per day. We estimate that the $1000 per day level will be reached at approximately 1700 registrants. PEDD reserves the right to add additional out of pocket cash to the daily prize prior to the 1700 level. When 2000 participants are reached, PEDD will be adding other prizes. PEDD will also be paying a monthly cash prize of up to $1000 to the registered charter captain if the largest fish of the month is caught by a client of a charter captain. Please check the website daily for additional announcements.( Charter Captain's bonus is subject to minimum entrant requirements)
NOTE:
PEDD FAIRNESS POLICY:In the event that there are not enough registrations at the start of the derby to pay out $1000 per day, we will issue a second check on June 15th to all previous daily winners.The second check amount will be based on the total number of registrants as of June 15th averaged out over the previous 46 days.With this policy, we will not be punishing the registrants who had faith enough to register prior to our reaching the $1000 pay out.
Our advisory board will review any situations arising that are not addressed by the official rules on a case by case basis.
